Common questions
How much does Etsy take from a sale?
For a US seller with no Offsite Ads, Etsy takes 6.5% of the order, plus 3% + $0.25 for payment processing, plus the $0.20 listing fee. On a $10 digital download that is about $1.40, or 14%. On cheaper items the fixed parts ($0.25 and $0.20) take a bigger share.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the payment processing fee both apply to the shipping you charge the buyer, so include shipping when you work out your margin.
Are Etsy fees different for digital products?
No. Digital downloads pay the same listing, transaction and processing fees. There is just no shipping, which makes the math simpler and margins higher.
Can I turn off Offsite Ads?
Shops under $10,000 in sales over the last 12 months can opt out. Above that, Offsite Ads are required and the fee drops to 12%. You only pay it on orders that came from one of those ads.
What price should I charge on Etsy?
